Replace your worn buttons if they appear to be worn. That is what keeps your valvetrain in-line. They are guides for the rocker arms to stay in the proper position on the shaft. Inspect your entire rocker arm before replacing. If the rockers are loose on the shaft, or show signs of wear, including the shaft, replace the entire assy with our ssd-209 rocker arm shaft assembly.

There has been some debate on nylon rocker buttons, of which I have found to be unfounded. The nylon rocker buttons are OEM and allows the rockers to stay in line and eliminate noise in the valvetrain, also preventing wear on the rockers. The buttons are easily replaced if that is the only component showing wear. We offer those as p/n ssd- 076, also sold in this category. There are some cheap imitations out there that use steel buttons. I find them to be of poor quality and you won't find them on my truck!
